Types of Manuscripts

The Journal of Interdisciplinery Islamic Studies accepts the following types of scholarly manuscripts:

Original Research Article

An original article presenting new theoretical, empirical, historical, textual, qualitative, quantitative, or interdisciplinary research relevant to Islamic studies.

Review Article

A comprehensive and critical review of existing scholarship on a specific issue in Islamic studies that identifies important debates, developments, research gaps, and future research directions.

Conceptual Article

An article developing, evaluating, or critically discussing concepts, theories, intellectual traditions, or analytical frameworks relevant to Islamic studies.

Historical Study

Research based on historical documents, manuscripts, archives, intellectual traditions, institutions, or events related to Islam and Muslim societies.

Comparative Study

Research comparing Islamic ideas, institutions, traditions, communities, countries, legal systems, educational systems, or other relevant subjects.

Field-Based or Empirical Study

Research using interviews, observations, surveys, ethnography, statistical analysis, case studies, or other empirical methodologies.

Manuscripts must be original and must not have been published previously in substantially the same form or be simultaneously submitted to another journal.
