Peer Review Process

The Journal of Sustainable Technology and Intelligent Engineering applies a double-blind peer-review process.

The identities of authors are concealed from reviewers, and reviewer identities are concealed from authors during peer review.

1. Submission

Authors submit manuscripts through the journal’s official OJS platform.

2. Administrative Screening

The editorial office checks:

• manuscript completeness;
• author metadata;
• required declarations;
• formatting;
• anonymization;
• references;
• figures and tables; and
• supplementary materials.

3. Editorial Screening

The Editor-in-Chief or designated editor evaluates:

• conformity with the Aims and Scope;
• originality;
• scientific significance;
• technological contribution;
• methodological adequacy;
• technical validity;
• presentation quality; and
• ethical compliance.

Manuscripts that clearly fail to meet essential requirements may be rejected without external review.

4. Similarity Screening

Manuscripts passing preliminary evaluation are screened using the journal’s designated similarity-detection service.

5. External Peer Review

Each research article is normally reviewed by at least two independent experts.

Reviewers evaluate, where applicable:

• novelty;
• scientific significance;
• technical contribution;
• theoretical foundation;
• research methodology;
• experimental design;
• datasets;
• model or system architecture;
• algorithm design;
• statistical analysis;
• validation procedures;
• baseline comparisons;
• reproducibility;
• interpretation of results;
• sustainability contribution;
• limitations;
• figures and tables; and
• consistency between evidence and conclusions.

6. Editorial Decision

Possible decisions are:

• Accept;
• Minor Revision;
• Major Revision;
• Resubmit for Review; or
•  

7. Revision

Authors must submit a revised manuscript accompanied by a point-by-point response explaining how reviewer and editor comments have been addressed.

8. Re-Review

Major revisions may be returned to reviewers when additional expert evaluation is necessary.

9. Final Decision

The Editor-in-Chief or designated independent editor makes the final decision based on peer-review reports, author revisions, scientific merit, and journal policies.

Editors, Editorial Board members, reviewers, and Guest Editors who submit manuscripts to the journal must undergo the same peer-review standards and must not participate in decisions concerning their own manuscripts.

The journal aims to complete the initial peer-review stage within approximately 3-8 weeks.
